The William Cepeda Afro Big Band Orchestra is a groundbreaking ensemble, born from Dr. William Cepeda's vision to create Puerto Rico's first traditional jazz big band. Combining the island's rich folkloric genres with the dynamic energy of jazz, this 22-piece orchestra delivers a powerful and innovative sound. In 2022, Cepeda brought this dream to life with support from South Arts' Jazz Road Creative Residencies, becoming the first Puerto Rican musician to receive the prestigious grant. Their debut album, The Sound of Puerto Rican Jazz, showcases the vibrant fusion of Puerto Rican heritage and jazz, setting a new standard for the local and global jazz scene.

Melodía Taína is Puerto Rico's first and only children’s and youth conch shells choir, a groundbreaking ensemble led by the renowned Dr. William Cepeda. This unique group revives the ancestral sounds of the Taíno people, blending cultural heritage with innovative musical education. Through the enchanting tones of conch shells, Cepeda inspires new generations to connect with their roots, preserving and celebrating the island's rich indigenous legacy in a way that is both educational and captivating.
